When we want to add an image to a web page we have to think about the pixel size of the image and it helps to know a bit about monitors and their screen resolution. Things are different when you want to add an image to a web page, however. You want to print that photo as an 8 x 10? No problem. A lot of information translates into a very large file. That means we are capturing a lot of information for that image. Now our digital cameras capture images in Mega Pixels (around 5 to 12 million pixels). Gone is the day when we struggle to capture and print large images. Text on web pages does not take up much space, but oh those images! ![]() The larger the file, the longer it takes for the page to download and become visible for your viewers.
